The link to the paper describes the numbers in detail. The numbers indicate the contamination of honey and wax with arachnicides. As a beekeeper I understand you cannot isolate your bees from environmental contaminants. Fortunately for most consumers of bee products, the pesticides picked up from the environment kill the bees and they die outside the hive. This is not true for the chemical cocktails of pesticides used by bee keepers. These chemicals accumulate in wax thus reused comb concentrations increase over time. Also I have seen these concoctions applied during a honey flow, which means the honey is contaminated. Our bees are fed well on the farm and hopefully are avoiding environmental contaminants. Hawkshaw Apiaries on the other hand will apply no pesticides to our hives or our land.
